Adding structure is like deciding what to do with a pile of groceries in order to make a dinner.
The “e” story structure starts in the present, loops up and back through a point in history (or widens for context), before looping back to the present to develop to the end.
When we add structure, there’s a tension between chronology and theme. McPhee says that chronology usually wins.
