While some people specialize in certain methods and then use them in every project—like quilting, writing, or a specific quantitative process—sometimes you need to be open to learning a new method to best match the project you are doing.
I love how Tessa Hull talks about her time illustrating her graphic novel with some dislike, almost like she’s frustrated that she had to spend those years doing graphic illustrations. But at the same time, she tells us that it was necessary: “This was the only way I could tell this story, and so I learned for this.”
I want to be open to using and learning new methods to best conduct and tell the story of my projects.
