The syllabus is often a place where the presence or absence of trust is visible. Is it written from a position of absolute authority? Does it allow for human realities? Does it offer choices, flexibility, etc?

I took a good long look at my syllabus, and realized I had communicated everything in it from a position of absolute authority.

Could be interesting to analyze syllabi for trust/mistrust, cues of safety/danger. The questions above about flexibility, choices, even the positionality (is it written in 1st person? 3rd person?) could be interesting markers for but the trust/mistrust and cues of safety/danger
